In the section Art Design there are no news.
In view of the dialogue that emerges between art and design, fashion, the media, as well as cultural phenomena such as advertising and pop culture, there is a growing relevance of questions concerning the development, the relation to and the specific interchange between the fine and the applied arts. This is where discourses open up regarding the current nature of relations between idea, sketch and execution, between form and function, between visuality and language.
Between fine and applied art there are common features and differences that need to be highlighted. Basic principles such as perception and reception will have to be looked at as aesthetic experience. Decisive connections linking the disciplines of art and design can thus be demonstrated as well as the methodologies employed in their respective theoretical approaches. Within the vast spectrum of methodologies currently encountered in theoretical disciplines, the study and analysis of images and objects allows especially for a contextualization of events and individual phenomena from different areas. Hence interdisciplinary intersections – particularly in modern and contemporary art and cultural history – are being revealed.
